Thoroughbreds on KT133A

I know that there are a lot of articles floating around, but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Here's my question. I want to upgrade some computers, but don't want to spend too much $$$$$$$. They run the old KT133A. What I want to do is drop a 1700+XP in it and was wondering if that's even possible? It's cheaper to spend $60 on a cpu rather than replacing the mobo and RAM at this point that's why I was wondering. Thanks in advance:)

kt133a boards support the 133mhz fsb that the t-bred's use
they should work fine

So that means that a T-bred will work on my ASUS A7A-133 as well? It can take up to an AthlonXP2100+...

some or most should work :p

the shuttle ak12a (v 3.1) works w/ axp (not the older v.2 and below)
the msi k7 turbo works w/ axp
the abit kt7a v.3 works w/ axp (not the older v.2 and below)

there's more

My Abit KT7A works great with a Tbred-A 1700+, running at stock speeds.

This chip is in my home server, with Alpha 8045 and LOW speed fan ('Puter is QUIET!) it runs at 31c under no load, using WPCRSET tweaks ;)

This combo is kept running 24x7x365...no problems what so ever.

Two things.
I think you mean v1.2 and below.
And i have a v1.2 at the moment running my XP1800 OCed @ XP2000 fine. No problems whatsoever. Not even the cold boot problems.

I'm also interested in this. Apparently I've got one of the earlier KT7a-raids (v1.0.) I haven't bitten the bullet to try out a tbred on it, as all I see is evidence pointing that it's not compatible.

The problem is that you might have to press reset after the power on a cold boot. No biggy. i was suppost to have that problem, but i didnt.

That's it? Seems like something pretty trivial to say that the board is not compatible with the newer chips

depends on the board. my Asus a7v133 doesn't work with my t-bred cpu.

it's rev 1.04 and the Asus site says 1.05 or later!! :(

Any conclusive evidence that it'll work with a kt7a-raid? Thinking about picking up a cpu at compusa to see if it's compatible.

Hope you don't mind the bump. :) Still looking for some good evidence here. If there is another thread around, I haven't found it.

beatle,

Try this forum as you can see many posts regarding your question. When I wanted to find answers for my Iwill KT133A, amdmb.com's forum had hundreds of topics on the issue of using either XP pally or TBred. Generally speaking, it may work if the board is a new revision but even "some" of the older boards may still work. My Iwill worked with a XP1900+ (palomino) by pressing the reset button but didn't work with a TBred.
