1. Will it be cheaper than the current xps?

2. <--repost: It is socket A right? So the current socket A hsfs are backwards compatible?

It will definitely not be cheaper than the XP1500+ :)

Yes, the tbred is socket A, and socket A HSF's will work just fine.

Will an tbred 1800 (model 8 or something) be cheaper than a regular xp1800

<--Was gonna upgrade to a 1800+ and a ecs k7s5a for $169 last week

I got a question...Am I going to be able to run a Tbred in my current KT266A chipset? If I can't, I need to know now...because I've been holding off on upgrading my Tbird for a Tbred.

Yes, you will be able to with a simple BIOS update according to AMD.

Although I heard there might be a problem putting Tbred's over 2GHz in current Socket A boards because of the high frequency.
