Those of us who are spying in other teams' forums certainly noticed that several teams are engaged in a WCG contest currently, the annual THOR Challenge.

Just FYI, here is how this challenge works:
  • It's a contest among teams (i.e. not among individuals).
  • The ranking is per total run time (edit: WCG-speak for CPU time), not per credits.
Good for those with low-clocked server CPUs, and perfect for those with CPUs built in previous centuries, and prone to manipulation.
  • Results from all WCG subprojects are counted.
  • There is a forum thread at WCG.
  • The challenge consists of 4 parts:
  1. week:
from September 24 to September 30
open challenge, i.e. registration is possible without invitation, but no late entrants allowed
    stats page
  2. week:
from October 8 to October 14
invitation-only challenge: the top 20 teams of the 1st week got invited
    stats page
  3. week:
from October 22 to October 28
invitation-only challenge: the top 10 teams of the 2nd week get invited
    stats page
  4. week:
from November 5 to November 11
invitation-only challenge: the top 3 teams of the 3rd week get invited
    stats page
The invitation-only scheme of the latter three weeks is routinely causing users to switch teams between the sub-races.

(intel gathered from a SETI.Germany forum thread)

edit Oct 18: added link to stats of 3rd week
edit Oct 30: added link to stats of 4th week

That's why I never heard about this challenge since I joined TeAm over a year ago.

Mark is a little busy with real life stuff this week. I don't know when he will be back.

SETI.USA are currently in the lead at the 3rd week of the Thor challenge, in front of two cryptocoin projects. (Link to the stats is in the 1st post.)

Check out their bunker release at the beginning of the week: free-dc page

Out of the hospital, totally deaf, and so dizzy I can't drive. But I have half my fleet doing WCG at the rate of 100k per day. About 150-200 cores.
