Superbowl is almost year which means SB commercials are almost here. Anyone interested in setting up a site (mirrors) for hosting all of the commercials. I can provide some space, bandwidth, and domain name (superbowl-commercials.net/com/org), but no way in hell can I handle all of the needed bandwidth.

Update:

Need someone interested in designing a homepage for superbowl-commercials.com.

http://www.superbowl-commercials.com

Almost forgot. We'll need someone to rip the commercials and provide them as well.

Would it be best to set up an AT torrent site?

I cant wait for another wardrobe malfunction. I hear this year they're gonna reveal a dude with a cod piece

screw torrent! Takes up all of my upload bandwidth. I think 200 gigs is more than enough already.

Last year we did 250gb in about 3 hours of hosting.

Really? Were they hotlinked? What size were the videos on average and how many vids were there?

Just curious...

Couple hundred megs total for all the videos.

Anyone interested in designing a main page for superbowl-commercials.com?

WOW, 250gb in 3 hours!!?

I could also rip them, edited out the parts, and convert to Divx for lower filesizes.

That would be great. We'll just have to figure out the hosting.

That'll have to be a distributed effort, or we'll be waiting on one person to download 250GB then reupload however much the total is.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. Maybe set it up so that people are responsible for all commercials during a single quarter?

Or if we have alot that can rip and convert, then just set it up so one person is responsible for 30 minute increments?

The rippers should also agree upon a resolution and format. I'd volunteer, but my upload capacity is limited. Oooh wouldn't it be great if we had an HD ripper out there 😀???

But would the commercials be in HD? I doubt it.

They dont cap my upload here at school, I've gotten 150kb/s to a friend across the state. I can rip but I'm not too sure about encoding with divx. (Ironic cause thats what everyone calls me here) I know how to run a first pass with VirtualDub, put not to sure about the whole second pass thing, if any one can give me tips I can try and rip, encode, and upload.

Edited: put VobSub meant VirtualDub (Guess the old Subbed is Always better than Dubbed alarm kicked in)

I would use VirtualDub.

Download the latest Gordian Knot rip-pack. It'll have everything you need.

Agreed. By far the one of the easiest ways to encode to divx. I believe this is the best version.

doom9.net is a great site to get your feet wet.

There were a few in HD last year. I think all of the movie commercials were in HD.
