First, before I say anything....SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES!!!!! PLEASE ALWAYS USE THEM!!!!

Whats left of my car...boo

Thank you Montano for the picture hosting

So yeah, it was an interesting day. As I was heading for the Post Office I got into an accident and rolled my car and its totaled...just like that.....in the flash of an eye. I dont want to go into details over the whole thing because it was pretty frightening, but I will be posting pics of what was my car as soon as I get down to the towing yard. I think the pics will speak for themselves. The worst part, and oddly enough the best part of the whole thing (because our selt belts and car seats kept us stationary and locked in), was that me and the kids were hanging upside down for awhile...ugh...its hard to describe that feeling. I truly felt completely helpless and dazed beyond reality for a minute. Went to the ER and got checked out, we are all okay for the most part. I got the most damage from it (thankfully) because of the airbag deploying into my face and I had my glasses on, but all three of us walking away from it with bumps and brusises is more than good enough for me.

In this unfortunate occurance, your children have learned a lifelong lesson. Seatbelts work.

For what its worth, and although my car was totaled. Walking away from a rollover speks highly for Saturn as far as I am concerned:thumbsup:

We are okay. Just shaken, stirred, with bumps and bruises:)

definitely good.
so, the crash test results are: car cannot hold up, but the crumpling is like a Nascar in that its destruction absorbs everything and you live, kind of thing?
sounds like a lose/win situation lol

regardless... yea good things your face is okay though. the whole glasses with airbags thing always scares the hell outta me, because you gotta think... its gotta happen a few times in the course of a year where someone gets all screwed up in the face because of glasses. But then again, now I'm thinkin thats not true because the glass in glasses don't shatter, do they? (specially with a lot of modern pairs of glasses being made of plastic lenses iirc)

Not an SUV, was an SL2.

As I was turning right at a yield situation, a car parked curbside abruptly pulled out. My passenger front tire caught just right and actually ran up along the other car's rear driver side tire and momentum carried the task out and pushed me over like a turtle:( It was quite bizarre how it happened. I did my best to avoid her pulling out, but it wasnt in the cards apparently.

It's unfortunate that more people won't wear a seatbelt. Glad to hear you and the fam were weraing them (I understand you're glad too ;) ).

I've run on too many accidents that turned out ugly because of seatbelts not being worn (or worn improperly). The worst I've seen was a husband who basically died on the spot and his wife had to watch him bleed out. She was wearing her belt, and unscathed. And the worst part for me was that I was treating her. The crew with the husband had it easy in comparison. I called my Dad immediately and told him to buckle himself in, ALWAYS. He's the worst and I don't want something bad to happen because he's "uncomfortable". Sorry to ramble on but it's kind of an issue that peeves me a bit.

Yeah it peeves me when people don't want to put them on, at least in my car. My rule is the car doesn't go in gear until all the seat belts are on. It annoys a couple of my friends, but I've been hit one too many times to do otherwise.

We have had two Saturns. One was in a roll over in a ditch and driver received NO injuries nor did the passenger. Second one was involved in a high-speed rear end collision, same driver received no injuries. Both times driver was utilizing seat belt.

For being half plastic Saturns hold up quite well in crashes , if only the motors in them didn't suck.

Glad everyone is ok.

Eh, thinking about the second Saturn after the first time it was totalled, it was also totaled again...
The second time was worse, driver fell asleep while driving and crashed with her kids in the car, they aren't dead.

No it wouldn't. I had a 97 SL1. I loved it until about 70000 miles, then everything started to fall apart. :(
Besides I don't dive a Honda (or Hyundai wtf ever you are talking about).

Both of our Saturns had over 100,000 each car. So, in a long road race say, 100,000 miles, my car would have pwned yours.
