Another recent thread's bans. Some of those were definitely deserved, but they still serve my point here. Just in two threads, can the term "kiddies" be put to rest? The average there is about six years of membership. It's not new people who are suddenly joining and causing a problem.

Sadly, it's not only kiddies that are leaving or being driven awy. It's seasoned tech people and intelligent posters.

The silly moderation + dwindling posters + Fusetalk = a LOT less ad revenue.

Things will only change when the powers that be see the ad revenue dropping - let's not kid anyone, that's the only reason these forums are still here.

I wholeheartedly agree that users who advocate violence against women or who confuse commentary on violence against women with humour should be reprimanded. Perhaps you and Common Courtesy could explain to the forum why no action was taken in the following case:

Perhaps he didn't read that thread. Myself well I'm not interested in teaching anybody how to behave in polite society so I let them make asses out of themselves with such posts. Now if Derek was to instruct me to do so then I would lean on them but so far he hasn't.

Common Courtesy and JediYoda were both actively involved in that thread. I was cautioned for referring to theSkinsFan as an ass. Presumably you will be reprimanded as you have also referred to him as an ass in your post.

The one-week bans in Skoorb's dental ads thread in Off Topic are some of the dumbest ever. A non-nested quote reply to state a Simpsons joke means time off?

Like everyone else I'm starting to wonder if you're all now engaged in some harebrained make-work program. Why not stick to moderating threads only when people complain that things are getting out of hand in them? Jesus, and to think many of you complain about the workload.

1) I will expect that all those that have earned their vacation will be back. Wiser, who knows. It is quality of the forums that either keeps people or drives them away.

2) A grand total of two have asked for clarification and none have chosen to appeal after clarification was provided.

3) A total of 3 nested quotes is the limit that I have always used, unless there is relevant information in previous quotes. this applies to P&N and OT

4) The only person that this did not apply, to in the dental thread, was Iron Woodie - he attempted to add some additional content. Had he not added content and/or waited one more nested level; he would also be on the sidelines

5) Two others NEF quoted in the dental thread today when I was not online. they knew that what they quoted was issuing vacations and chose to continue. They earned extra "RESPECT" for their decision.

Please identify (publicly or privately) where I have vacationed a person without an explanation.
