Sure SED may have incredible black levels compared to LCD and plasma, but there is no WAY in hell an LCD could have a black level THAT BAD... The LCD's 'black' according to the site is almost a white.. So following the website's directions in taking a picture (so settings are the same), I took a picture of my LCD computer monitor from 1999 with a black picture in full screen just to see my LCD's black levels.. Well when I looked at the pictures, they're a LOT more close to the plasma's black levels of the article's pictures..

Don't blame the website. Did you read it or skim it? Look:

Shutter speed is one second for the first picture with the sensitivity adjusted to 400 ISO. The camera receives a maximum of light and exaggerates objects? brightness.

Ok, competing monitor?s adjustment probably weren?t optimum.

I just said that I set my camera to the exact same settings as theirs.., ISO 400, 1 Second Shutter speed...

I was at full brightness on my monitor...

OMFG WOW better than SED!

Heh, seriously, looks a lot better than the comparison, at least 😉 .

Btw, wow! That NEC screen is gorgeous, and those black levels are almost unprecedented for LCD's! Are you running the 'high contrast' mode for that screen?
