I live in southern Connecticut about 2 minutes from Long Island Sound and we're getting lake effect snow today that's blowing all the way down from Lake Ontario. I've never seen it this far south before.

That is really weird. Usually the snow dumps once it gets over land.
Are the winds that strong?

Meanwhile here in the north we barely even get much snow anymore, but the south gets more. I don't really care either way, but given I have a snow blower now, I say bring it on, so I can make that expense worthwhile. :D

They were strong, but not that strong. Gusts to maybe 35-40, we've certainly had much stronger without anything like this happening. I've never seen that before, it was a steady squall of lake effect snow on a direct line from Rochester to southwestern Connecticut. Even now six hours later it's lessened and shifted east, but still a big line of snow reaching all the way down through New York and into Massachusetts and upstate Connecticut. Areas close to the lake east of Rochester are pcking up 14"-18" from this, only flurries by the time it made it this far south.
