I think they're pretty good, most people here would recommend arctic cooling to you though. Just out of curiousity what kind of card are you running?

X800XL AGP flavoured.

Feels a bit hot to the touch, and want to see if it can OC anymore than on the stock heatsink, so I was thinking of this.

Goo/bad idea?

Awesome stuff....dropped my 6800Ultra load temps by 20C..... Very silent. I just bought one for my 7800GT, since my stock cooling fan died, and it will get me a greater overclock.

good cooler. cools better than artic cooler but dosent exhaust hot air, which shouldnt be too much of a problem. just make sure it fits. on some video cards, you need to bend a cap or two out of the way.

Hell yeah it's good! Keeps the card in my sig at 55C under load, if that's not good enough, you'll need watercooling.

So to repeat my question, are you guys using the stock thermal grease that came with it? I have no need to shell out $10CDN on AS5 if I don't need to.

I used the stock grease on my other cards, and it worked well. Right now I'm using AS5, and it might make it a few degrees cooler, but even with stock paste it cools really well.

Yes the Zalman is one of the best air coolers for VGA. It's tough finding Silencers here in Canada also - I had to order mine from BC (NCIX); otherwise I would've just driven over to Canada Computers ;) .

I'm a big fan of using Arctic Silver 5- it cools better than the stock stuff and one tube lasts awhile, and multiple CPU/GPU applications.

If you're in Mississauga, there's a place called Liata Computers just south of Canada Computers (south of Mavis and Burnhamthorpe) that will sell you Arctic Silver 5 for 7.5, and probably give you a slightly better deal on the Zalman GPU cooler as well if you haggle politely with them ;) . Best of luck!
