Out of state tuition is equivalent or less than my local community college's in district rate. If you happen to live there your total tuition is less than $1000/year for a full course load. 😱

It's so cheap I'm considering taking an extra full load of credits from them just to pad the GPA (only partially kidding).

Internet 101 here I come!

That's pretty standard at ALL California community colleges.
MOST of my classes were 3 units, but many of the core classes in accounting were 4 units. I also had several that were 1-1/2 or 2 units as well. (usually once per week classes)
 
Yeah, I suppose the in district cost is relatively normal, but I've yet to see an out of state cost that low.
 
So, you get 1/2 your bachelors at CC and move to a traditional school to get the 2nd half?
I heard of people doing that, but was too scared that credits wouldn't transfer or that the change would be difficult.

I probably would have saved a ton of money.

I did that. CLEPs and Dantes + CC first. Then transfered everything I could to a 4 year degree plan where the classes were like $1300 a class.


EDIT look slike the price where I went has gone up some.

about $525 for in state rate per credit hour. Most classes are 3 to 4 credit hours so from $1575 to $2100 per class.

Yes. Many of the JC's in CA have agreements with the UC/CSU system so you know exactly which classes will transfer.

Thats what I did... Went to CC for 2 years, then transferred into a 5-year program as a third year. Went from paying ~$1,500 per semester to $10,000 per quarter. So from $3,000/year to $30,000/year.
 
This is why people need to learn if their community college is decent. You can save a shit load of money by taking the not so important classes a community college. My state charges more, but if you simply have a B average you'll never pay more than about ~$50/credit if you're a resident in the area served by your community college. However you can get more money in different ways plus you can take classes while in high school which saves you time. Imagine knocking off almost 2 years while still in high school.

$26 a unit here (California), but it was free for me thanks to an automatic fee waiver. Got all my general-ed done for free, yay!

There were parking permit ($20), lab, and some health fees I think, but those were negligible. Each semester probably cost like $30-$50 counting these fees.

CC here is $26 a credit hour, but if qualify for even $1 of federal pell grant than the price drops to $0.
 
There have been many complaints that the UC system is going after out of state students because of the higher tuition they can charge...cutting available spots for in-state residents.

I tend to agree with those doing the bitching...the taxpayers of California support the various colleges and universities to help educate California students...not those from other states/countries.
