I don't know if someone was yanking my chain or not but they told me that Dr. Martens shoes have a lifetime warranty. I find that very hard to believe, but he told me to take my beat up four year old Docs down to Nordstrom's and they will replace them for me.

Hmmmmm

They do have a lifetime warranty, on the sole I believe. That isn't the same as a computer warranty; they won't replace beat up shoes, but if you send in the shoes to Dr. Marten's, they will take care of the problem if there is one.

Well, Nordstrom's pretty good with customer service anyway....they usually replace/repair *any* pair of shoes you buy there, not just Docs.

<-------- but thinking about replacing the Docs she has from 8th grade...with a larger size ;)

Reminds me of the time I rolled the 'rari on a switch back in southern Europe. Thank God for insurance. Still, it took me nearly 3 months before I was back on the road; F40's are in high demand.

Interesting, I don't think I will actually take the time to return the shoes but maybe send them to docs to get them repaired, would save me some dough as compared to buying a new pair.

A post of mine from the previous thread:

"The ONLY thing that is warranted is that stitching. If you have a hole in the leather, crappy sole, whatever, it won't be covered unless the leather separated from the sole where the stitching is.

Just thought I would point that out before the good Doctor gets flooded with phone calls from people too cheap to buy new shoes."

Keep that in mind. :D

Meh. I don't like the doc boots. I think they're kinda silly looking. Gripfast's are a lot cooler looking, and last longer too. :)

Here's a true story to prove the power of unconditional guarantees: About a dozen years ago, a guy walked into the former Fairbanks, Alaska, Nordstrom department store with two snow tires. He walked up to the tire counter, put the tires down, and asked for his money back. The clerk, who'd been working there for two weeks, saw the price on the side of the tires, reached into the cash register, and handed the man $145.

Bahahahaha!

Nike still does it for up to 3 years from the day the shoe was made.. and no more than 3 pairs a year.. they dont necessarily give you the same shoe brand new, but they'll do that or they'll give you a gift check to spend at niketown.com equal to the retail price of the shoe when it first came out... linky for those who care...

Wow...it didn't even cross my mind to search for this, I didn't know that a warranty of any kind actually existed.

Oh yeah, and when you mean stiching, do you mean the stiching that connects the sole to the leather or the stiching that is attaching two pieces of leather together?
