"Fascism is a form of radical authoritarian ultranationalism, characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and control of industry and commerce..."

Sounds way more like the Democrat Party.

Who coined "Make America Great Again" and "America First," and wants to hold an ultra-nationalist military parade? Not the Democrats.

Who has been using executive orders whenever possible, and firing politicians and law enforcement leaders who criticize or conduct legitimate investigations into the President? Not the Democrats.

Who has attempted to demonize the free press, in many cases simply for presenting facts that contradict government lies? Not the Democrats.

Which party was it that was gerrymandering districts and instituting discriminatory voter ID laws in a bid to rig elections against the will of the people? Not the Democrats.

Who's appointing regulatory leaders that act as stooges for corporations, stripping regulations in order to protect corporate monopolies? Not the Democrats.

You can tell us the sky is red and water isn't wet all you like, but we're not going to buy your bullshit.

Funny you should mention that...

Some of the limits of public support for freedom of the press are made stark with a quarter of Americans (26%) saying they agree “the president should have the authority to close news outlets engaged in bad behavior,” including a plurality of Republicans (43%).

This is broadly similar to what you've said in this thread. Sounds like you and your party are totally down with forcible suppression of opposition.

Interesting you mention 'America First'. Guess who else had that slogan? The famously Nazi-friendly Charles Lindbergh:

Abbott is a classic right wing post-truth dumbshit. I mean, if you resort to the logical fallacy of appeal to authority (Churchill) then you need to at least use a valid reference, not a fake quote.

Anybody who defends it is dumber than Abbott.

Whatever made you lol.

Well, I suppose the notion that MSNBC, CNN, and WaPo are only ever interested in the facts and the truth makes me laugh out loud.

You need proof of that? You can't think of examples from those sources of plain partisan bias and dishonesty?

It's strange that conservatives still keep media bias against them as an article of faith considering the evidence shows just the opposite. Empirical research shows that mainstream media has little, if any partisan bias to it. That's the media that the left and center of America tend to read/watch. Conservative media on the other hand is HIGHLY biased and often does not adhere to the journalistic standards that mainstream media does.

People who incorrectly think the mainstream media is liberally biased often excuse this lack of journalistic integrity in conservative media as it being some sort of counterbalance but that's simply untrue. You have generally centrist, credible media and you have non-credible far right media. The truth is not in the middle between them.

The projection is strong with this one.

Which party today is pushing nationalist policies? Which has an autocratic leader who says things like "I alone" can make America great? Which is implementing tariffs and restricting trade?

Sure. I'm operating from the starting point that he's just an alt of one of our more usual posters.

Gotta have lots of identities for poking at the nasty liberal nazis. Looks like a real movement then.

It's funny that they seem to believe that they're fooling people.

Actually, no I do not.

It is the Republican Party and the Libertarians that want an affordable and open healthcare system not run by the Washington slime.

It is the Republican Party and the Libertarians that want a President and a Justice Department that follows the law as written.

It is the Republican Party and the Libertarians that want a free and open press that holds everyone's feet to the fire of the truth and not be a branch of a political party.

The sarcasm is strong in this post, my sarcometer tops out, think I will have to switch it up to the 10X setting.

Who cares who said it first, it's true, that's good enough for me.

actually, it's the fascists that are the fascists. That's certainly true, and we've been down this road before. Did you forget, or do you just not care?
