Why would the thread be locked because of others hijacking it?
Would not it be more appropriate to vacation the offenders, instead of punishing the original poster who broke no rules?

You threaten to cancel a discussion because of rioters, instead of threatening to remove the rioters. Nothing against the moderating crew, just this particular moderating rule/judgement is quite flawed. It encourages hijacking as a valid means to shut down threads the hijackers do not like.

thread hijacking of a VALID thread should NOT be a reason to lock a thread ...

INSTEAD, the hijackers should be simply be given "time outs" and forbidden to post in that thread further. 😉

perhaps you Mods could look into implementing it

Attempted thread hijacking has become a *weapon* in Video ... and since it is becoming well-known that mods lock these threads, we can expect to see it used more in an attempt to lock even more valid threads.
