No, when you go to the big page you will see a link on the bottom for moderator discussions. Go in there and post a thread (only you can see it) and the mods will deal with it.

I wish that thread was visible from any section of the forums, but you have to back out a couple levels to see it.

No. At the bottom left of each post there is a red and white triangle. That is for reporting posts - spam or other violations. It's very handy and has been used a LOT so far! Especially when we get one of those prolific spammers that make 20 posts in different forums in a short period of time.

You can report posts that violate our guidelines with the little red and white triangle button to the bottom left (under the avatar etc) of a post, but please don't go crazy as these reported posts will all have to be examined.

Thats why I use the forum for mod issues.

As allisolm notes, reporting spam is a proper use of that feature, so feel free to use it.

The warning is a boilerplate "don't be stupid" warning so that we can go rap you on the knuckles latter if you do abuse it.😉

where the heck are these spammers coming from? ever since the switch to the new forum i've notice a great influx of spammers. is it merely just coincidence?

The spammers have auto signups for VB. Anand may want to load up/subscribe to stop forum spam. At the very least the reporting functions will help the rest of the forums out there.

they have automated tools that make accounts and post to open forums automatically. that's an unfortunate side effect of a popular forum software.

Also, the report post function usually results in action taken very quickly. Most of the time, action is taken care of within minutes, particularly when the offense is a very clear violation (spam, porn, etc.)

Actions against things like "mild personal attacks" don't necessarily happen as quickly, as sometimes the moderators discuss the various situations before taking action; especially in borderline situations. (And sometimes we find in favor of the person who is being reported.)
