Original close date was Feb 14.
Now... we won't be closing on the new house til sometime toward the beginning of March.
Wife and I are both on vacation this week to move to the new house.

It looks like instead, tomorrow and Friday we'll be moving our stuff to storage instead. Our tenant is slated to move in this weekend and can't wait. Grrr!

I'm sorry... that really does suck.
I can feel for you as we are planning on closing on our new home with in the next month or so... as if it were not nerve wracing enough... stuff like that happens.

Good luck on your move though(when it does happen!)

If you wanted to be mean, you could ask your attorney to send the seller a time is of the essence letter which requires them to close by a certain date.

I did that when our seller kept dragging our closing on since they were trying to time the selling of their house with the purchase of a new one.

Seriously, you have the worst luck at this.

It's amusing from an outside perspective, though.

You should write up the whole sordid saga in one nice story.

Amusing isn't quite the right word - dramatic is more like it.

My daughter bought a condo, they were supposed to close in early August, right before their wedding, but it got delayed. And delayed, and delayed - they finally closed at the end of January, right before the super bowl.

Hope yours goes quicker!

The seller isn't holding it up. From the mortgage commitment letter, it's been about 2 1/2 weeks... but, it's the 2nd mortgage commitment letter - the first one had a contigency: "utilities have to be turned on." Well, they meant "the furnace needs to be turned on."

That wasn't going to happen.
it's not connected.

I can connect it with no problem, and repair where some of the hot water baseboard pipes have been cut. BUT, the seller's realtor wouldn't allow me to do the work (liability)... the seller's realtor wouldn't allow me to hire my own contractor (liability), and the seller's realtor said we had to use *their* contractor... estimate = $9600. (I can put in a new heating system for a fraction of that, and... as a matter of fact... purchased one yesterday for just over 2k. (going with coal heat... it's by far the cheapest way to heat a house, coal is plentiful in this area, and it's very clean these days)
