This sucks: selling used stuff to stores isn't very cost effective.

I bought this 4x12 guitar speaker cabinet about a year and a half ago, for 425. But I was desperate at the time and had to finance it so it was about 500 (sucky music store interest). Now, I need money and I want a burner too, and my interest in guitar unfortunately has plummeted in the past year or so, so I figure I'd sell it to one of the music stores around here. I figured I'd get about 200 for it. But...nope. The best answer I got was 150. Sucky.

Oh well, life's a bitch.

Pawn shops does suck.... even the more legitimate and chain retail ones. You would get a much better price in the local papers or even usenet.

Well.. in a sense it can serve as an economic value... I mean, think about it as something that you can liquidate (to cash) to use on something else (something w/ more priority at this time than that which you are selling = else you wouldn't be selling it). The only way that this situation would be ineconomical would be the following:

You still love playing w/ yout speaker cabinet
It's still a necessity... you still use it (see above)
The Burner is a luxury - you can do w/ or w/o it...

If that is the case, then selling it would not be a great economic move for you. But... if the speaker case is just sitting in the corner of your room picking up dust, and/or you plan on getting a new one somewhere down the line (that would put your old one to shame); then this would indeed be a great economic venture for you (well not great) you have taken a loss... but just consider that loss to have been re-valued through your line to the utility that you have already received from the case. The thing that would make it even more economical is that if you need the money for something important (something that would have a great effect) and that you use the burner effectively (ie: burn songs for your friends at 5 dollars a disc -> which would in turn lead to a revenue and increase in equities and cash - decrease in discs and time of course, but those are all proper justifications).

So you can look at it that way, hope I put things into perspective

I know, I wish I could go that route, but I can't really wait. My car is on empty and I'm broke till tuesday. I would ebay it or something but I don't even know what kind of shipping it would cost (it's heavy!), plus again, the time factor.

woe is me.:(

On a more serious note, I still have a 1x12 100W Marshall Combo amp, which was like 5 or 6 hundred, so this cab isn't gonna be that big of a deal. But, I like the speakers in the cab alot more than the one in my amp. They are alot crispier and I like crispy. But my amp still gets plenty loud enough. I just don't like the fact that I paid 500 and am getting 150. :disgust:

Nobody likes that idea... it's our way of saying "I got screwed, wtf?" but in reality, it's quite economical when it comes to some situations... lets take EB or FUNCOLAND into consideration... you sell a game that you bought for 50 dollars (assume you don't play it at all anymore) for 10 dollars.... this in reality is actually a great business venture on your part... why? Because you're getting money (something that you can use later) for something that is just merely sitting around picking up dust (and probably losing value over time - exceptional cases when it gains value.. but that's rare)...

So instead of having the money in a form of a game taht you don't even play anymore... you're getting money .. liquidation of something that you can use.... do you think that you can go buy food and pay w/ a videogame? Of course not... w/ 10 dollars though... starts to look every economical doesn't it :)

And I'm sure that this is the principle that such organizations drive their dealings on... "Just be glad that I'm paying you something for this P.O.S" - however I do advise that if you can sell to friends... do it... you won't want to see what the EB places do to your game (more like quadruple its price then place it back on the shelves as used :|)

If you

a) can breathe
b) are HIV/AID's free
c) haven't visited Africa in the last 4 years

Then go to your local plasma center and "donate". I use the word donate loosly because there's no donating about it. You are selling your plasma. Anyhoo, you could get a first tiime donators bonus + your normal pay and walk away with $100 in one week for about 3 hours worth of time.
