This struck me as a little odd ... (soccer related)

In the picture, the guys on the left and the center look pretty athletic...as professional soccer players ought to be. The one on the right, however, looks like some lazy IT guy who got up from his computer and threw on that uniform! (I've got nothing against IT people!) Not only do his legs look pretty weak for a soccer player his size but I also see some belly fat.

Granted, New Zealand isn't a world-beating soccer outfit but I'm just curious how he came to be in the team. Is he a defender, picked mainly because of his size?

It isn't odd that the player on the left looks like a huge chunk of his skin is peeling off?

Tack this up to another reason to hate soccer, why do they feel the need to take their shirt off in celebration?

The guy on the right almost looks retarded. Talk about a bad picture. It must be a bad angle; otherwise it explains why this is New Zealands first goal in a World Cup.

After running 7 miles during a game you get hot and just can't wait to take your shirt off.

It's not always about sprinting power... it's about endurance and skill.

I think it's just a bad photo angle though. He is probably in extremely good shape.

In soccer, having defined, rock-hard abs is not necessary. ;)

Also, that guy looks to have fairly beastly upper legs. Not sure what you're looking at, but I'm not seeing weak legs there.

He's also probably a fullback, versus the two on the left look more like halfbacks or strikers.

But yeah, as a guy who himself cannot obtain a visible rock-hard set of abs, I resent the notion that a little belly fat means you are out of shape. On the contrary, some men are just genetically destined to have a little bit of a flabby outer stomach, even when they are in great physical shape.

Thats probably a bad angle, Wayne Roony looks more like a rugby player though.

Think that's an ice pack or some sort of bandaging.

It's our first GAME in a world cup AFAIK. TBH I'm not that sure because I don't give a crap about soccer and neither does anyone else in this country.
