At one time, I was maybe 80 percent of the bastard that he is. Played drums for several years but gave it up for "grown up" pursuits. Plus, finding a place to play and house a drum kit is a major PIA. All I could afford were apartments after leaving home and didn't know anyone with a house that would let me play there, so I had to sell the drums (and I needed the money).

Also played guitar on and off for years and years but guitar was always WAY more challenging for me relative to drums. i.e. For every unit of work put in, I improved WAY more on drums than guitar.

I've been keeping up with Cobus since ~2006. He's come a loooong way. From recording in his room, to being fully sponsored and playing in a studio. Love it!

His biggest problem is he's picking songs which are heavily focused on snare and cymbal combinations, rather than utilizing the entire set with the at least two tom's that I saw in the video.
Which is representative of the vast majority of actual songs. He's doing external drum covers to real songs, not concert drum solos.

Uh... what the hell? Seriously, what the hell are you talking about? He's certainly a competent drummer, about as good as should be expected from anyone who is paid to play this type of music. But seriously, what the hell are you talking about? There is nothing particularly exceptional about his playing.
