Correct me if I am wrong here. But a 7870 crossfire setup would run cooler, quieter and use less power than a 560 ti 2gb SLI setup? Frame rate wise they would be almost the same though correct?

7870 crossfire would completely own 560 Ti SLI. Not only is 7870 this much faster, but it also scales better in dual-GPU configs. And yeah it'd use less power (about 130W vs 170W per card).

Are you looking to upgrade? Your X750 should handle 560 Ti SLI just fine even with overclocking, and 7870 CF isn't big enough of an upgrade IMO to justify the cost, even though it's faster

This, unless you're running multiple monitors I'm curious as to why you'd need an upgrade from two GTX 560 Ti 2gb cards. Of course the 7870's will run more efficient but that doesn't warrant to spend the $700 to crossfire them.

I know it would not be much faster. But it should be much much quieter. My 560TI's get pretty darn loud while gaming with BF3. The powercolor 7870 pcs+ looks to be very very quiet.

A nice pair of headphones would be much cheaper, and then you wouldn't hear your computer noise at all

LOL yeah true. I can sell my 56TI setup for about $400. The 7870's will cost me $700 so out of pocket should be around $300

What are the temps at load? It's possible that your gpu fans are just overzealous and you can reduce the fan speed without the temps getting too high (anything less than 80° C is fine; many think that even 90° C is fine, but I wouldn't risk it).

If the temps are too high to slow down your fans, then have you cleaned your gpu heatsinks lately? Maybe you could try removing them, cleaning off the old thermal paste, and reapplying?

My top card gets to 90 degrees bottom card about 75 degrees. This is in a Fractal R3 with 3 120MM fans and good airflow. The problem is my Evga SLI board the PCIe slots are right next to each other. So my cards have like 1 mm space between them. And I am gaming at 2560x1440 so my system certainly gets pushed alot while gaming. I did re apply thermal paster MX4 on the 560's as well..

Sounds like the bad spacing is causing most of the heat, to be honest the 7870's might suffer to same fate. I had two 6970's and they are rectangular shaped with hardly and clearance, which causes my cards to become relatively hot. My top card hits about 80 degrees while under load and bottom hits about 65 under load at 60% fan speed. What sucks about motherboards like that is the chance to tri-fire/sli becomes non existent. If I added another card my middle one would probably start to melt.
