How old are you, KT? How many hours do you work on average per week and are you salaried? I can definitely understand those who are paid hourly working extra time but even then, people need to enjoy life. On the other hand, salaried people who regularly work 60+ hours, however, have no excuse IMO.

Salaried, but with semi-annual discretionary bonuses. Coming in and leaving on time plus not working weekends would be great, but it does not work that way here. Working the extra hours and doing good work will help bump up my bonus which would be far more than I would get just working extra non-salaried hours.

Would you rather experience life when you're young, or when you're old?
Traveled a lot with family when I was younger. Not so much this days, perhaps once every 2 years. Balanced it between work, family and taking a real vacation.

I often tell myself, "These are the best days of my life" and its true. These are the good old days that I will long for when and if I get old. I'll give you a snap shot of the good life: 35 years old, 2 baby boys, great wife, good physical health, sober 6 years, on good terms with all family members and friends, guilt free mind, a few other good things. All this makes it possible to notice and appreciate the sweet, fresh air during a campout, the way it feels when the wind blows over your skin, or how it feels when you leave the coolness of a shadow and walk into the sunlight. All these things are fully experienced and enjoyed, only when I have all of those other good things backing me up in life.
