This question is really simple I'm sure, but it has me stumped...

All my comps get their internet through my linksys wirless g router.

It runs beautifully for about 36-48 hours at a time, and then it stops working and I need to unplug and then plug the router back in, which gets it working again.

I imagine this is some sorta problem with the settings on the router to obtain an ip or refresh or somthing but I don't know what it is. Any ideas?

Log to the Routers menus and make sure that the leasing time is set to the longest possible.

Is there a light on the front that comes on as like an error light? We had that problem at school and it was some firmware problem that they hadn't come up with a fix for when i was still in school (2.5 years ago)

that's kind of a funny thing. I got the router late october, so I assume it has the latest firmware... but just to be safe I went to linksys to check, and I get an error everytime I try to update the new firmware  It says something like invalid code something or other (I can't remember what it said exactly ). It was a very unusual error, something I've never seen before.

I've had similar problems with old Linksys routers(not old, just...old as in I don't use them anymore). Friends who use wireless ones, same thing. They all had better results after updating the firmware.

Good luck with getting that done.

Do you use bittorrent and p2p programs a lot? my old router used to crash under heavy load and require a restart.
