no, and I wouldn't have the right equipment to test whether it was good or not, but the 1250 which is based on the same platform was tested to be very good at jonnyguru.com

You can get a 1kW Antec for less. Difference would be minimal if you factor in the spinpoint bundle savings (if applicable) but Antec is a more reputable brand.

You can't go wrong with either that one or Antec, but if you can't get the $55 discount, then you should definitely reconsider.

How do you figure? Just because that Antec power supply has been around for years doesn't mean it's complete crap. Just because this Sparkle PSU came out yesterday doesn't mean that the fancy new design makes it the best PSU and justifies its additional $50 price difference.

But, the Sparkle is a DC-DC design and as such, is more efficient than the Antec.

The Sparkle has fewer hardwired cables and as such, less clutter that has to be hidden from the unused cables. The Antec.....as JG said, why bother with being modular when you'd be hard pressed to use up enough of the hardwired cables to need to add a modular one. Hate those hardwired octopuses.

The Antec uses those stupid PowerCache cable addon caps....makes routing the cables much harder and difficult to orient properly. And don't run that Antec without its specific cables.....output quality goes into the toilet without them. Clumsy design at a minimum.

BTW...no one said the Antec was crap. That was your childish interpretation, but how you got that out of what Hoofan said, I'll never know.

Don't be so quick to judge old fart.

It must have been a simple misinterpretation on my behalf. When he said that the Antec PSU design is old and it can't even hold a candle to that Sparkle PSU, I guess he was strictly talking about the design of the PSU, whereas I thought he said: the Antec PSU is an old design PSU (which it certainly is because it is several years old) and, in addition to that, it can't hold a candle up to the Sparkle PSU, as far as the overall quality/performance/durability/reliability/etc is concerned.
