This ProActiv Stuff Burns...

Josh

Lifer
Finally got it a couple of days ago, been using it religiously ever since, haven't seen a real change yet but it's supposedly takes up to and including 60 days. We'll see about that...anyway, this stuff burns when you put it on for a good few minutes and sometimes drys my skin, it said to use smaller amounts if it dries the skin but it still burns...that better mean it's working well or I'll be one pissed off muthafletcher when 60 days comes :|

Which stuff burns? I tried it when I was about 17 to clear up some problems I had, and it worked great within the first week. I don't remember anything burning.

The third step one, the one where you put a thin mask of it on, it just feels weird...I wouldn't say burn, but it's not comfortable...

Haha, yeah, I know what you mean. It actually made it hard for me to talk at times because it just dried so hard. It seemed to work well though, and it didn't dry my face out at all; your mileage may vary.

The only part of ProActiv that I still use on occasion is the first step exfoliant. That works great to smooth out the skin.

how much is it again?

about $40 for a 2 months supply

$45 with rush shipping (I put rush shipping and they said it was $6 more but when the bill came it only charged for normal shipping but the product was rushed) for 60 day supply & supposedly you can return EMPTY bottles if it "doesn't work" for a full refund minus shipping.

Did you have acne when you used it? Did it clear up fast? Or take a few weeks...?

whats the active ingredient in those, better than 10% benzoyl peroxide?

Proactiv Solution is a Combination Therapy acne management system - it combines prescription-grade ingredients in a system that works together to heal and prevent acne. Developed by two Stanford-trained dermatologists, this unique acne fighting system combines finely milled benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, and our special formulation. These ingredients gently exfoliate your skin, unplug your pores, attack acne-causing bacteria, and soothe inflammation.

um... okay... yummy... sulfur 😛

I've gotten some of the stuff off of eBay. You can concentrate on getting just the Repairing Lotion and the Toner. I never had a need for the mask nor the cleaner or there was something else in there, it seems.

My daughter mostly uses but I have oily skin and it helps w/that. Don't feel like I'm wiping sweat all day at work 😉

I used to use Proactiv, but in my opinion using all the products together didnt help much. If your skin is burning you should try using a gentle cleanser like one by Cetaphil(you can get it at your local drugstore) and then just use the repairing lotion. That works a lot better.

Hmm, I've tried so many stuffs to keep my face clean-clean and I don't wanna mess up yet. I'm gonna keep going with the ProActiv, but once it "works" I'll try your method

You can get the same stuff over the counter. None of its prescription grade.

I used ProActiv for a while there. The masque never burnt but it did tighten up my skin. I sure had a lot clearer complexion but I'm now using a tea tree oil cleanser and some moisturizer and it seems to get rid of most of the blemishes.

Yea, I just need to clear up my skin like it used to be. Ever since I went to my different school my skin's been horrible and I'm hoping ProActiv clears it up...or 60 days and i WILL have my money back dammit. 😛
