The last thing you want to skimp on when building a rig is the PSU, it's the heart of any system. And don't buy into the recent hype about needing 700W+ PSUs. A quality PSU in the 450W+ range will run almost anything short of a top of the line SLI rig w/ all the bells and whistles. In other words, when it comes to PSUs, look for quality over quantity i.e. Antec, Corsair, Fortron (FSP) Seasonic, etc. etc. You can find a quality PSU from these and other companies that'll fit your needs for <$100 and believe me, it's money well spent. :D

Would this be a good fit for my gaming system? I am going to be running a C2D build.

Dorkenstein give me a quick overview of what your build will be like. Are you going to overclock? And more importantly what video card and will you ever want to sli two cards?
I 'll show you some good psu for your needs. More importantly other people will be able to help you more also.

Yes I am going to overclock, and I am going to be running a Geforce 7900 series. I was looking for psu's at Newegg because thats where the rest of my order is from. But I am open to alternatives.

Topower PSUs have been decent to excellent.

The above linked PSU (by HM) is one of Enhance's server PSUs. Cable bundles may be too long for your purposes and the fan is likely to be noisy - note they don't mention whether the fan is even thermally controlled. Be sure to check the specs page on EnhanceUSA.com . I bought and am using a used Enhance server grade PSU and it's great but I couldn't deal with the noise even though they were temp controlled. The ENP-5150GH mentioned farther above is better for home use. Also look at the iStar 500W unit (TC-500PD1) on Newegg - very inexpensive for what it offers. It should give you good service as iStar is in the server PSU business - I don't think they'd want to besmirch their rep with a POS PSU for the consumer market...

I have a Topower power supply. It was cheap and has been a great power supply for almost 8 months of heavy computer use. I would buy this brand again if the price was right.

I have an Enhance power supply and it has worked great for 2 months of heavy computer use. I would buy this brand again if the price was right.

I have a new Hiper power supply to install soon. The price was right.

Bought em all because they were bargains with favorable feedback ratings.

I like the power supply you linked. Seems to have lots of features and dual 12V rails at 20A.
