This paintball gun looks SIIIICK!

is this a really nice gun or is it sort of rice'ish? sorry, i really don't know anything about paintball guns.. i just thought this looks nice.

It is stupid, you don't want a paintball gun that looks cool, you want one that hurls paint effectively. Just buy a Tipmann-98 for <$150 and get a nice barrel for about $50 more, they are pretty much the standard entry-level marker, they are not fancy, shoot OK, but they are pretty reliable and have low maintenance. They are good for first timers. All the fancy cosmetic parts just adds extra weight you need to lug around the field, and after a day of paintball you are going to want the lightest marker you can get. You don't need a stock unless you are a SUPER wimp (can't curl a 10lb weight? get a stock), this isn't a real gun, there really isn't much recoil. If you want your marker to look cool you can get it painted or annodized or something.

If you get really into paintball you will want an automag or one of the Bob Long markers, or something though.

Tippman... no thanks. It's basically a rental, which is why they are the majority of rental markers.

It's a rental marker because it's a rental marker? Great logic.

It's a rental marker because it's as tough as hell.

I remember my first marker was a Model98. Ordered it the first week it came out. Ahhh memories...

The reason the model 98 is so prevalent as rental markers is because it is tough as nails. My friend played with one for a while, his maintenance routine was wipe it off with a towel at the end of the day and toss it in a bag. Worked flawlessly for years. It is a good entry-level marker. Try that with one of the $1k+ markers, the thing would be dead after 1 day if you treated it as poorly.

You can use compressed air with a Tippman 98? Is that the same as Nitrogen? I haven't been paintballing in like 5 years, and when I got out, Nitrogen was just getting big. I thought CO2 was ancient technology now.

Yes...any marker that uses CO2 can run compressed air or Nitrogen. Not all marker the use compressed air or Nitrogen as a mian power source can use CO2.
