This normal on PSU's? The brown stuff thats built up. Or is it like that from factory? Is it from heat?

It looks like the heat from the transformer is "cooking" the glue or whatever is wrapping it, over time. Whether that is bad or not, I can't quite say. I've seen similar issues before, ocassional, after taking apart dead PSUs and other electronic gizmos with transformers in them.

I would ask one question though - is the transformer getting too hot? How is the cooling? Should it be heatsinked? (Beware of electrical issues though.) Perhaps some PSU guru would be willing to chime in here. I've seen it before, but I can't say whether or not it is some sort of indicator of potential future failure.

Well thing is it came out of a 1.6 Xbox. The mobo crapped out due to solder splash. Xbox won't come on afterwards. The solder hit the BIOS chip on the mobo.

Someone wants to buy the PSU but I ain't 100% sure it works. I don't know if the Xbox won't power on because the mobo or because the PSU. Hate to sell a dead PSU of course I would give a refund if it works but I hate to ship it out not knowing for sure. Is there a way to test the PSU without a multimeter? Don't have another 1.6 Xbox.

It looks a little warped from the hot tempature but nothing seems abnormal about it.
