Microsoft explains that "higher clock speeds provide higher performance but with exponentially higher power consumption"

"This higher power drain can result in worse battery life, higher temperatures, and louder fan noise. Not all tasks require the absolute highest performance, so Windows dynamically reconfigures the processor to provide the proper balance of performance and power efficiency,"

"Race to idle" RIP? (Google that phrase if you're not familiar. It was all the rage the last 10 years as the "last word" in power-management for PCs.)

I think it would be somewhat more beneficial if MS spent a few years purely streamlining Windows 10 and bug-fixing; the amount of times I've seen Windows 10 suddenly decide, "hey, is your computer idle? I've got some random background tasks for it to do! wsappx activate!". To hear MS act as if the problem is caused by third party software is like that joke about the banker, working-class man and the plate of cookies.
