My daughter came home and mentioned she's learning how to "twerk". Me, being a standard dad, had my face buried in a newspaper and said "that's nice dear."

It stuck in my mind for the rest of the day, then I decided to Google what the hell "twerking" is. I can say two things:

1)
2) I'm suddenly hungry for jello.

NSFW? Not sure- http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOfficialtwerkteam

why would a daughter tell a dad if she's doing something like that... wow... not sure how i should take it, good father daughter relationship where she could share anything? or bad father lack of discipline...

This new twerk thing? Maybe new to your daughter, but not even remotely new in general.

I'm not a fan. It's a lot of what I hate about modern society in one package.

Edit:
Changed "almost everything" to "a lot" Who am I kidding? I hate almost everything, and one person couldn't fit most of what I hate into a single activity :^D

Its not new. Twerking has been a thing since atleast 2008 ("Twerk Team" started it :( ). It was something I only saw ghetto chicks doing on youtube and then for some reason white girls started doing it too.

Now, it will never go away.

The only thing new(er) is the word that some rapper with the vocabulary of a six-year-old made up so that his garbage would rhyme.

It's just someone shaking their assfat.

I can see how young girls could do that innocently just because it seems fun.

It's new to me because it's now going mainstream. First I've heard of it, now I'm hearing news anchors and older people mention it.

My daughter is 17 and was just joking around with her friends when she said that. I'd probably do something that would get me incarcerated if I caught her doing that in public.

404 - newness not found

and no it didn't "just go mainstream" because you just found out about it.
