My zone alarm has been going crazy the last two days from pings, and when I resolve them, they are all randon Road Runner addresses. I think thats normal, but would RR actually ping me 233 times in 4 hours? Also, it shows that I ping myself? Help :(

I have road runner and I used to have a software firewall and it would go off ALL THE TIME. It would be Mediaone's servers sending stuff out. It's not a big deal. I called them up and they explained to me what it was. It may be the same thing for you.

uninstall that crap! all it does is cause an oproar... yes, you are constantly being contacted by servers, other people and everything out on the net... you have reason to worry about <1% of it...

Well I have the same systoms and a check of my router logs shows scans for port 80, (code red) several hundred times since last night from all over the place, (mostly from @home and RR ip's). Maybe it's not but then again maybe it is.

So what should I do about it? Just forget it or is there something I can do?

My modem has been constantly hit over the past week for no reason at all, even with the machine off, but CommView just shows it as passive traffic, with a few packets coming from other customers.

Just chalk it up as an annoyance. Nothing to really worry about if your not running Win2k IIS and you have a firewall up. If your like me, my cable provider (@home) has gone down several times in the last 2 days, (I don't know if it's because of code red or not) but that's about the extent being inconvenienced I've had.

It's a sunny day and an ice cold Killians awaits on the back pourch.
