Errrm, how could you possibly equate this movie with Apollo 13?
Apollo 13 - some guys go for a trip to the moon, ship malfunctions, guys narrowly make it back to Earth alive. Also a true story
This film - The sun is jacking off and we need to restart it.
the premise is extremely similar.
and it's fifty years into the future, no the far future. even if they come up with a explanation for technology that can affect the frigging sun (huge breakthroughs etc), it would still sound pretty far fetched.

Is no one else bothered by the fact that the sun has enough fuel to last another 5 billion years?
And even if it were to run out, the nuclear fusion reactions of the heavier elements (because the hydrogen ran out) would cause the sun to explode and turn into a red giant.
Or am I just reading into this too much

i immediately pointed that out too, but alas I won't let it ruin what could be an enjoyable movie.

Meh. Good idea, but it looks like they Armageddoned it... One mission, and fifty fvcking billion things go wrong. Makes for a horrible movie.

yea. cant think too much into how realistic the physics would be.

and i love how Clint Mansel's theme from Requiem for a Dream is used in so many damned trailers. its perfect-like though, because it adds a layer to the trailer it feels like.

Well that theme makes the trailer so damn good. Btw 28days later was one of the best zombie movies that are available today and there making a 28weeks later, a follow up which should be awesome also.
28 days later wasn't about zombies.
As though any one would name a vessel Icarus.
They may have named it Daedalus, and the device they would fire into the sun Icarus, but that's still pretty macabre.

through technicalities it wasn't, however it represents how we commonly view zombies, and they kept the behavior very similar. the only difference was it was merely a virus that affected living humans and they stayed alive, versus making them walking dead.

Sure it wasn't but really then no zombie movie is about zombies.
Anyways if it wasn't Danny Boyle and rated R I wouldn't give it a second look but since it is it has the potential to be good if you turn off the part of your brain that knows the science is almost certainly bunk.

The only way this movie will be any good is if they don't explain any of the technology. "We have a device that will re-ignite the sun, Oh look a penny."

I thought I saw the actors that played Scare Crow in Batman Begins, and the guy who played the flame guy from The Fantastic 4.
Looks like an interesting movie...definitely like The Core. I'd like to see how they explain how the sun went out...military test gone awry?

I thought about this for awhile, but would a Sci-Fi movie/ disaster movie with amazing special effects like this do good if everything went right and the tail end of the movie was used to explain the aftermath of the events? I liked Deep Impact more than Armeggedon because it showed us what life was like during the events.
