This morning I installed a new HDD and now my computer won't boot anymore.

Ok firstly I'll admit I was lazy and did an error, when I installed my new HDD I didn't unplug de powercord.

Mobo : GA-X58A-UDR3
CPU : i7 930
HDD: Crucial C300 SSD
1x Seagate 1TB
1x Seagate 500mb
This morning I tried installing a 3rd Seagate drive (2TB)

When I first booted it, nothing happened, just black screen, no sound.

First, I unpluged everything but Power cord, display and keyboard in the back. Still have the black screen...

Secondly I unpluged all my HDD power. Still have black screen.

Third, unpluged the power, and pressed the reset CMOS button. Waited 1min, still have the black screen.

Well that's it.. I'm out of solution I think I might have blown my mobo. I checked with local computer stores, and obviously none have this generation of motherboard in stock, I'd have to order online and be a few days without a computer.

Unless I'm missing something and you guys could help?

Well I use windows 7 x64, but it doesn't matter.

I get a black screen even before the BIOS/post screen shows.

That's a tough way to learn the #1 rule. You could try connecting individual components in another PC to test whether or not they're fried....pull the plug out of the wall socket before you do.

Unplugging the HDD power cables, but not the data cables, can cause the drive's electronics to attempt to draw power from your mobo's SATA controller ports, which can overload them.

Can you get into BIOS and see if it shows up there?

If you unplug everything along with removing the video card and all the memory modules, then power on the system, does the system respond with any beep codes?

Unplug everything.then clear CMOS. plug in main drive.if lucky it will boot.
