The only way to fix The via problem is not to buy a via chitset in the first place.

Dont use them if you have a old system...

They arent made for us older Via owners.
(like KT333 boards using XP with over 1mb of RAM and Large HD partitions)

You will pay a extereme price if you dont make a backup before using these !

readup at the Via forums first if you dont believe me....

I have a Asus A7V8X motherboard, (VIA 400)with a AMD 1800 (266) palominio CPU
512 meg Kingston 333/2700 ram
Power Color Radeon 9000/128 AGP
Maxtor 60 gig diamond plus HD

I have never ever been able to run games, any game, constant lock up's, blue screens, etc etc. I have tweeked every bios setting, every ATI panel setting, nothing has worked. Been messing with it almost 6 months.
The other day i ran across a post at Via arena about Asus/radeon/ problem. about the same as my problem.
A poster suggested setting the 133/33 cpu buss speed down ONE notch to 132/33 and trying that.
Well i am happy to say i can play everything i throw at this board now flawlessly. In fact everything runs/opens faster than ever. No glitches, no hicups.
Seems to have fixed it totally,
NOW, i wonder and ask, why did this fix it? anyone have a clue?

Just a guess, but I'd say the divider? (I'm not sure, does via 400 lock AGP/PCI?)
