What is a crossover cable and will I need one to connect my new Netgear RT314 router to my 2 computers? I have the wire ran for the downstairs computer, plenty of cat 5..LOL. But what is this crossover cable? Sry for not knowing this, but I just dont know what it is and what its for. Thanks!!

a crossover cable is a cable used to connect 2 computers directly. if a router, hub, or swtich is used they are generally not needed. the only difference between a crossover cable and regular cat5 is that some of the wires are swtiched inside the connector.

do a search and you'll find links and more detailed info about them and when you need them.
