Lucy Delacourt's office temp position isn't quite her dream job but it pays the bills...barely. The highlight of her day is riding the elevator in the mornings with a handsome stranger. Tall, dark, and sexy as hell, Lucy knows he's way out of her league, but a girl can look, right? Everything changes the day the stranger seduces her. Completely out of character, she yields without a fight, but she has no idea her wanton acts with a man whose name she doesn't know will change her life forever. Because the sexy stranger is none other than Jeremiah Hamilton, billionaire CEO of Hamilton Industries, and one taste isn't nearly enough to satisfy his need.

Has novel writing in the 21st century really devolved to this level while I've been reading GRRM and Sword of Truth? Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey, and Anything He Wants . . .

And even more pathetic, instead of calling out the book as straight trash in the Play reviews, theres a few calling out the cover art as being too risque for children. Really? Idiots, they'll see for more skin at the local mall and on TV.

Sounds like the summary of a dollar store romance novel.

You get what you pay for.

Horny teen girls and women need something to read too. They can't all subscribe to Hustler like a real man.

Edit: Joking aside, it the Sword of Truth series good? I like my fantasy with a brain, but I need at least a small token of occasional action.

And I have several erotic story websites bookmarked, all free.

Yes, though the final three books drag as he keeps having his characters debate philosophy back and forth. In Confessor, about 1/3rd of the book are characters spending entire chapters attempting to refute the other. Extremely irritating.

Edit : The TV series Legend of the Seeker will give you cancer if you watch it.

The topic came up a bit in Hoober's thread about his self-published novels, but your complaint illustrates one of the downsides to the new publishing paradigm. Yeah it used to be hard to get a book published, but that process also acted as a filter keeping at least a minimim average of quality on the shelves.

Now that everbody and their sister can write and "publish" a novel, coupled with the declining likelihood of anyone ever telling these precious flowers they're not good enough, I think it's only going to get worse and worse. But I can rant in this for hours...it's one of my biggest pet peeves.

Overall, I think self publishing options are a good thing. There's still quality material out there, and this allows solid authors with different ideas to get seen when they'd be buried under the old paradigm.
