Its not going to be any better or worse really, i just like the small cables and such. The speeds will be the same so dont worry about it too much. What do you do primarily with your computer?

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9 80GB UDMA133
-Fine, I woulda picked seagate but if its cheap then its fine. I'm using a maxtor, IBM, and WD right now anyways

Sony 1.44mb Internal 3.5" Black floppy disk
-sure

Corsair 512MB 184Pin DIMM PC3200 DDR RAM Non-Parity CL2.5
-Good memory and cheap

LG Electronics 16xDVD 48xCD Internal IDE - Drive only
-Other options are Asus, Lite-On, Sony, and Samsung but the LG should suit you fine.

Antec SLK2650BQE UK 350W 12v ATX
-This case is fine

Asustek Radeon X800 Pro 256MB AGP DVI-I VIVO - can anyone confirm this will mod to XT?
-Yes it will mod to the XT (pretty sure anyways)

Abit Socket 939 K8T800Pro ATX Audio LAN RAID
-Sure, but any reason for not picking the nforce3 chipset? price?

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Socket 939 512kb Inc Fan
-Sounds good

Overall it looks good.

SATA is better than PATA in many ways:

1) It is hot swappable, so if anything happens to the drive while the computer is up you can just disconnect it and replace it without having to turn off the computer, unless it's your primary drive (good for servers usually)
2) Data transfer rates can get to higher levels due to the serial design. This allows you to run some of the fastest IDE drives out there. (WD Raptors)
3) Cables are of smaller design which allows for better airflow in the computer case

Since you've already purchased your PATA drives, don't worry about it, but just keep it in mind for future upgrading purposes!

I would have gone with Seagate or WD instead of Maxtor. All the maxtor's I've had, have needed to be returned for repairs.
