This look about right for this TV settings. Or should I tweak it more?

you find the settings from those dvd's that much better than the THX CINEMA BRIGHT ROOM or THX 3D cinema mode?

I mean honestly the thx mode is slightly dry but it really really looks like the theatre imo. the 3D is crap but 3D is crap tech anyways.

I have a huey pro or two (easy to hack a huey into a huey pro , takes 5 minutes) - they don't really do much better of a job imo.

As far as room lighting goes. Usually when I watch a movie or whatever the room is dark. Even with some lights on, the living room is not very bright.

The settings seem to work really well except the black levels seem a bit grey but that just might be the LCDs limitation. I tried adjusting the backlight & brightness.

Could be because the TV is above from where you would be looking straight from the couch? Kinda have to look up.

Just like every car is tuned slightly differently (even across the same model), a TV will need its own calibration. Also, your eyes may not be tuned the same way a reviewer's eyes. If they used a calibration disc, you are relying on their eyes and not professional equipment (nothing wrong with that, but I prefer calibration to my condition and my eyes, not someone else's eyes).
