i had a dilemna a few days ago over a cheap LCD.. either get good quality brand (viewsonic, mitsubishi/nec, etc) or one from this nascent company but get a bigger screen (17 vs 15)...

i heard that they supply the screens for some dell monitors so i figured why not (despite them [LG] not offering any warranty vs 3 years for the major brands)...

well, i ordered at 6pm on Monday and got it on Thursday Noon... this is with 10$ fedex shipping... newegg & fedex is beyond reproach!!!

17" - 250 nit brightness - 550:1 contrast - 16ms - 160*/140* viewing - analog in

looks GREAT - im using analog from an 8500LE and i cant fault the picture at all! really easy controls and clean looks. i do notice the ghosting or lag that people mention when i drag a window around, for example... but I do not game so it is no problem at all. AND..they just dropped the price from 289$ to 279$.. its a superb deal

but no DVI. i'm ready to jump on one of these LCDs one day, but they always have no-DVI and that's the clincher cuz i wanna see what the buzz about DVI crisper text is all about. plus their policy "Dead Pixels Policy: Replacement or Refund for 8 or more DEAD PIXELS ONLY!" scares me

they have the same policy for ALL monitors they sell--whether it be planar or sony ... probalby the manufacturers carry their own pixel-policies

i have dvi on a 15in lcd, it helps make text look sharper, but overall performance isn't particularly that much better.

i can tell the difference between a lcd on dvi in firefox vs a crt in firfox (since they are sitting right next toe ach other). But I wouldn't be willing to pay more than 30-50 dollars extra.

Wow, Im intrigued by the prices on these things, they are getting lower, and I might just hop on the LCD bandwagon.

I have a 2 year old 17" lcd with vga input. text is VERY clear, colors are good, etc. if you can, get an lcd with dvi input, but with a good vga cable, vga is pretty dammn good

and thats because most lcds under 19" (excluding laptops) run at 1280*1024 and under. with higher resolutions, dvi gains an advantage over vga's visual quality
