This kind of trading ethics pisses me off

A trader over at FS/FT had a router I wanted, so I PMed him...

Me on 6/13 at 11:32am (during lunch break): If you can take $35 shipped, I'll take the ******** router, and pay via PayPal.

Claude (aka Glendor...)

Him on 6/13 at 12:02pm: Sure....PayPal is ******@gmail.com I can't accept credit cards since my paypal account is just a standard account. Please make sure to email or PM me your correct shipping address.

Regards,

****

Me on 6/13 at 5:41pm (as I was leaving work): Sounds good, but last but not least: how are your Heatware refs?

I have about 120 refs, and they are all positive, under the name: Glendor

Him on 6/13 at 7:56pm: Well my heatware link is posted right there on the thread. I'm under Ronin, and I have my forum Alias info all setup. 42-0

************************************
So I check out his Heat, and he had three aliases associated with that Heatware account, so I sent an email from Heatware to his registered email just to make sure I was dealing with the real Heat owner; after all there was all that crap last week about that guy trying to pass others Heat off as his own. Can't be too careful these days.

My email from Heatware...
The HeatWare.com user Glendor has sent you the following message
--------------------------------------
With all the Heat gettig hijacked by the Trolls these days, I've made it a point to send email to everybody I do business with to make sure they are legit. Sorry if this sounds insulting. I hope you will accept my apology.

Glendor aka Claude.Monroe@gmail.com

So anyway, this morning I get this email from him...
No problem...How could someone hijack my heatware when I was the one who made the post on Anandtech, and my Alias info on Heatware matches it. Anyways...I sold the router, since I did not hear back from you someone else came along.

Regards,

I sent him this email back...
Kinda sucks that you sold it to somebody else AFTER we made a deal ****.

Claude...

His reply...
Hmm...I don't really remember a deal being made, all I remember is you saying you where going to buy it, then started a background check when clearly if you read the thread you would have seen that I was not a troll, my heatware link was there and my Alias info on heatware is clearly visible. Usually when someone buys something from me or agrees too, they don't take two days to pay.

http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=2535 - why would someone with a 121 evals not have there Alias info posted? Seems to me I should have been asking if you where the real Glendor or not....

Regards,

My final reply...
****, today is only the 14th, you had agreed to sell me the router on the 13th. You had found a new buyer before 6:30 AM on the 14th, that's less than 24 hours since you agreed to sell me the router.

How can you say you don't remember a deal being made? Let me refresh your memory...
Me: Will you take $35 shipped for the router?
You: Yes
That's what is called "a deal" in the forum.

Maybe you haven't been around long enough to be Trolled, but I have. Yes, you should have checked me out if you didn't see my aliases listed, or if you had any doubts about who I was. Only an idiot would send money to a total stranger without checking references, and one of the best way to verify that the Heatware is legit, it to send an email from Heatware to the owner and ask if they receive it. That verifies that you own the heat you are claiming to own. I've received those kind of emails at LEAST four times this year.

Oh, and why don't I, someone with 121 evals, not have their alias info posted? I don't need to. I only have one alias: Glendor

he definitely should have sent you an email asking if you were sending payment before reselling it. My bet is someone offered him the posted price and screwed you over to make a few extra bucks.

I'll probably find another at a good price, but the whole "I don't remember any deal being made" and the "two days to pay" part just hacks me off. :|

Do you think maybe there's a reason why he left that out?

Yea, I left that out, and stripped his personal info from the text because I didn't want him to start a flame war about how I'm trying to ruin his reputation. I figured that anybody who cared enough would be able to figure out who I was talking about and avoid them, or they could even PM me for the identity if they wanted. I've seen some incidents where too much personal info was shared at the wrong time, and I didn't want to be accused to that either.

Anyway, there will be more routers on the FS/T forum, and if getting an extra $5 bucks was worth landing on some DNT lists for him, well what can you do...

I'm just glad that so many people read this and agreed with me that, yes there was a deal, and he broke it.
