This killed one of my vehicles long ago

Since it's a slow morning here at ATOT and I just ran accross this while cleaning my HD so I figured what the heck I might as well post it.

BTW-I wasn't driving I was sleeping(until the first impact) in the back('74 Chevy van).

Looks like something out of the Blues Bros.or a Eddy Murphy flick...must of made a lot of racket.

7:00am on a sunday morning

After not being able to extracate myself from a sleeping bag because I was hitting the ceiling and walls of the van, I finally threw it off and found my buddy Todd slumped over the steering wheel with his foot still on the gas trying to push that last car even further through the garage. I turned off the ignition and woke Todd up and asked him what happened, he said he didn't know so I exited the van to find myself in someone's back yard and all the neighbors were in their bathrobes peering around the corner of the driveway at me.

LOL, that's a great picture. I can just imagine being in #1. What did the cops say? What did your buddy say?

Yep, we were #1

The Cops? It was something along the lines of "You have the right to remain silent.........."

The cops were trying to pin the accident on me(it was my vehicle). Todd was getting more and more wasted as time went on. After I was hauled into the police station the Cops pretty much told me that I had to be driving because Todd was so wasted there was no way he could have been driving. Then right on que that was when they carried Todd by the door of the interrogation room like a dead quarterback(arms around two cops sholders, feet dragging behind him). I looked at the cops and said I have nothing to say until I see an attorney. They threw me in jail until a tuesday morning arraingment. $5000 later I got the whole mess straightened out.

Put in rehab., insurance companies came after him, but it's kinda hard to sweeze blood out of a turnip. After this Todd and I didn't hang in the same circles. I haven't seen him in twenty years. Heard ten years ago that he got religion, but then he always sorta took on the persona of whatever girl he was with so I doubt it stuck.

Whew, could have been worse! What was the $5,000.00 for? Lawyers? What would have happened if you didn't hire a lawyer? Did he deny he was driving at all?

Yep, $5000 for lawyers. When I was sleeping Todd had gone on a drug shopping spree and decided he needed one of everything. Hence, the <<Todd was getting more and more wasted as time went on>>. When they searched the van they found a smorgasborg of illicit items.

Hey, I was no angel, but I thought I knew my limits.
