**If the mods find this too offensive, feel free to delete, but I'm not trying to be malicious**

Very few things surprise me these days, but this takes the cake. I spent the weekend with my GF at her grandparents' beach house and we were talking about the cottage and about how we left the place clean for when her grandparents come back down. Well anyway, she was telling me about the time her cousin was down there with her boyfriend and he would NOT put toilet paper in the toilet when he finished...ya know...he would put it in the TRASH CAN!!! WTF???

Her uncle called him out on it b/c that sh!t stinks...literally!!!

Then she went on to say that her friend would do the same thing when she came over. She wouldn't put the paper in the toilet b/c she was afraid of clogging the toilet. So she too would just ball it up and put in the trash. WTF!!!!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!! I mean, if you have to go THAT much, you just flush every few minutes or so so that it doesn't clog up.

I'm sorry, but I was just in shock...I can't believe someone could do that...I mean...BARF!!!!!!!!!

My friend did that once. I don't know if he just went bonkers or if he was just wondering what would happen or what....but he went in and totally stunk up the place. We thought he dropped a healthy one, but the smell persisted and the next person to use that bathroom noticed the trash can full of toilet paper!

I had a neighbor that was like this.. I thought was weird the first time I was in thier john and saw the trashcan full of TP, and a sign requesting the you not flush the TP for enviromental reasons.

I'm still trying to comprehend this. When she was telling me this, my mind was so overwhelmed that I could see the smoke coming out of my ears. It just doesn't compute

I thought it was a mexican thing. My wife says her hispanic roommates in college did that. They said it had something to do with the septic/ sewer in Mexico.

Yes, it's like this in Mexico. The sewage system down there is not nearly as well designed as the U.S. As such, their pipes clog VERY easily. Most people in Mexico that have a toilet put toilet paper in a can next to the toilet.

It's not a big deal to them, they've grown up that way. People here find it odd because you've grown up in the U.S.

Maybe it's that whole "Not my house" mentality... because we all know that having somebody else's toilet clog up and overflow while you are there is *the* worst situation any human being can be in.

Even worse than the smell of ripe you-know-what in the trash can?

Ever put toilet paper under water and see what happens? Well I did and let me tell you, it dissolves fast. It'll turn into a fine pulp in about a minute so all that bs about it clogging up the drains are either because 1) they have sh!tty drains and should get it fixed or 2) they use cheap toilet paper that's made out of crappy material

I read that people who have their own septic tanks do this. Personally I would prefer to just dig a hole in the woods and poop there. Leaving it in the trash can is vile.

ughhhh, gross.
Seriously.. if you're worried about it clogging, do your business for a bit, flush.. squeeze another one out, flush. Wipe once, flush. Wipe again, flush. (unless you live in an area with a water shortage... then again, pump it out of the river to the toilet, flush it down the toilet.. to the treatment plant, and back into the river = no loss of water.)
