If we're talking American Football, then, well isn't that Marshall Faulk guy pretty decent? :)

And also, I mentioned Luis Figo earlier, how about Zidane. That guy is not too shabby.

So you're saying Rivaldo has singlehandedly taken Brazil this far in the WC?

Please say no man and save your face.

i would love to see barry sanders play for a team with a good offensive line. i heard that about half of sanders' carries were for no gain or loss of yards.... yet he still averages like 5 yards per carry. but yeah, that faulk guy is ok i guess. :)

Although I'm in defense of Brazil, this comment is way out of the ballpark (errr, stadium;)).
It's not because of a teams unsuccessfulness that an individual star loses his status. Figo and Zidane are great players inside teams that couldn't work it out. Their talent is still there (much like Rivaldo's) ... the fact is that their team weren't able to advance in the cup.

You never hear that on american TV. What you mean makes the whole scene flow? As much as I can tell the only flow in soccer is in a circular fashion.

ignorant? pot calling the kettle black. in fact, i hate basketball.

so are we talking about best overall player, best playmaker, best scorer, role player....etc. i don't even know why i bother responding to you. you need to realize that opinion does not equal fact.

later.

I've had enough of this. Pallander, stop being ignorant to everyone in here! What makes you think that you know more about soccer/football than american, japanese, bulgarian, afghani, brazilian or penguinese? Instead of opening up a discussion about the pros and cons of a specific player, you just flame away.

Personaly, I believe that Rivaldo is a great player, but with several difficulties. Physically, he's worn out. Yes, he can make the final strech between half-field down to three quarters of the field. He is unable to make the final strech on a counter attack up till the goal. Also, he always needs to rely on the other men to push forward a counter-attack. I agree that Ronaldo is much more of an opportunist, but his determined position doesn't allow much. Since other players are pulled back a little, Ronaldo is always open up front ... which seems inneficient because our middle-fielders aren't being able to connect the defense to the attack.

See, a discussion IS possible ...

Oh good god ... I'm tired of arguing here. I never said which one is better, so what the hell do I have to admit?! Can't you present some real opinions? It seems like talking to a printer! I always get the same error message, over and over again. Sheesh.

Personally, I'm all in favor of Romario. But let's leave this for another discussion, shal we.

I'm not much of a soccer fan, but i did watch brazil-england last night on espn and it sure seemed to me like rivaldo was acting like a baby by taking a dive and whining like he'd been molested almost every time the ball was near him.
