CHIEFLAND, Fla. -- Investigators in Levy County on Wednesday searched for clues after the mysterious deaths of a man, a woman and dozens of animals on a farm.

Deputies were called to the five-acre farm on Tuesday afternoon and made the discovery, Levy County Sheriff's Office Lt. Evan Sullivan said.

Sullivan said the two victims and all of the animals were shot to death, but he said they aren't looking for a suspect in the case. An autopsy is scheduled for the man and woman on Wednesday morning.

The victims were believed to have been in their 50s, but their identities weren't released.

Levy County property records listed Laverne Holter as the owner of the property, located at 5151 NW 127 Pl, Chiefland, Fla.

More than 40 animals were killed, including dozens of goats, seven dogs, a donkey and a miniature horse or pony.

"A stack of goats were found dead in two separate sheds," Sullivan said.

Some animals survived, including several horses, goats and chicken.

Deputies remained at the scene on Wednesday as the investigation continued.

A stack of goats? Who the hell stacks goats up after a killing? Maybe they were just bunched in a corner when they died.

Maybe they were fainting goats? Maybe they aren't really dead!

i bet it was one of the goats, he killed the humans first, then the other animals, and left the other goats until the end, before he killed himself :(

There is your list of suspects. I would say that someone got fed up with the low quality feed they were being given.

Not trying to be picky but how is this weird? When I read your subject, I was totally expecting something like "died of unknown causes" or "only the female animals were found dead and there was the corpse of a chicken on a pitchfork sticking out of the ground. But nope, someone shot them all. Whoopee.

its not weird that someone goes and shoots up a whole farm?????? Sure, its not weird like they all had every ounce of blood drained and their brains were missing but there was no sign of injury or something, but its pretty damn weird.

how the fuck is that NOT weird? does this happen often where you live? what kind of motive does someone have to do this? I can see why the humans were killed, but why kill the animals as well?
