It's interesting how careful the French government is treating the protesters who are bringing the country to its knees. When it's Roma or other minority groups protesting, it's open season and all guns blazing. Why is Sarkozy not calling these people thugs and miscreants? Where are the Nazi-inspired plans?

The question is how, in the era of globalization, it is viable to have the retirement age set at 60 and still sustain the economy. It's difficult enough as it is for young employees to pay for the retirement benefits of the older generation.

Gotta tell ya, a 32 hour work-week and retirement at 62 sounds awfully nice. How we winning, again?

especially when France, like most/all Western nations, are experiencing a lower birthrate and aging population (not enough young workers to cover retirees).

We'e winning the race to the Chinese worker level. 90 hour work week, no health insurance, no retirement and the opportunity to get the crap beaten out of you by your own corporation.
