Grabbed a X1900XT 512MB for $250 plus $10 UPS Ground shipping, and payed via PP immediately.
It took the seller 6 days to ship, so he upped the Ground shipping to 3 Day Select. I recieved the package today, but it's not what I bought!!! I received a Socket 939 Opteron X2 170 and the stock HSF. The CPU came in a plastic sandwich bag w/ no other padding other than the box of peanuts it came in. The HSF was just thrown in the box also.
To top it off, the CPU has several bent pins which don't look very promising in straightening out. Also, I don't have a socket 939 board to even test this thing out, it's probably a dead CPU.
Anyway, I sent a message to the seller to contact me on my cell so we can talk about options. I'd really just like my money back at this point. Then I'll send this CPU & HSF back.
Just seems like too big of a mistake to make, shipping a CPU instead of a video card.
Now I have to grab a decent video card for Battlefield 2142, the demo comes out today, but I at least have a week and half before it's released.
Cliffs for the lazy:
1. X1900XT off Ebay.
2. Takes seller a week to ship.
3. Receive CPU w/ no padding & bent pins.
4. Want my money back.
UPDATE: Went back to Ebay and looked up this sellers other completed items, and found that he also sold an Opteron X2 170, and some high performance Mushkin 2GB kit of RAM. I haven't heard from the buyer yet, but it seems like he might of just confused our shipments.
I went ahead and contacted the winning buyers for the RAM & CPU asking them if they received the right item. One of them did, one of them didn't (the one /w my videocard).
