No no no, when you tell them add about $15 to $20 onto the actual amount. If they can't be patient and bid like they should, too bad.

I always email and ask what the reserve is. 99% of the time I get an answer. Get over it...

You want to know what pisses ME off about ebay? Reserve prices. WTF? I don't bid on items with reserve prices because normally they are ridiculously high. Just be straightforward with people.

no it is not to high....why do they hide the reserve price if you think I should be allowing the price to be public knowledge?

So you're philosophy, is that if I am trying to sell my item that is worth 150 bucks ,I should say fvck the reserve and let someone buy it for a lowball price?

You sir are a MORON!

I agree. That's the whole point of having a reserve price. You can't go up to a live auction and ask what a reserve price is!

That's the ONLY thing that pisses you off?!?!!

I put my truck rims on there last week. A few hours after posting, a guy bids the minimum, knocking my BIN off. Kool, since my minimum is the minimum I'm willing to take anyway.

I got no bids the rest of the auction, and last night, 10 hours before the auction ends, the fvcker retracted his bid.

WTF?

So now they didn't sell, and I'm out the fees. I'll relist, but that really pissed me off. I filed a complaint, like that means jack. :|

This is my feeling. I do NOT bid on items with reserve prices. You really do shy away a lot of people when you have an item for auction with a reserve price. If I'm really interested on an item, I will e-mail and ask. If they don't answer, that item will not be looked at again.

I've sold a couple of dozen items on ebay over the past couple of years. From my experience, if you have a somewhat item "in demand", have NO reserve price and a starting bid of $1 (or whatever).

Believe me, it usually goes for much more than you'd think. I had a less than 1 year old notebook with a $1 starting bid (no reserve price). The "street" value was about $800. The sucker went for $950. That's just one example.

Again, you can have a reserve price but the chances of your reserve being hit (people bidding on your item) are much lower.

Bid retraction would totally suck...you should hunt that fvcker down!

Always make your reserve like $100.02... so they bid in like $5 or $10 increments.. :D

I am not willing to take the chance with an opening bid of a dollar with no reserve...would you bid on an auction that had no reserve but the opening bid was lets say 150 that would cover my reserve?

Why not just set the opening bid to whatever you're willing to sell it for?

This is my feeling... I find these two scenarios equal:

* Your starting bid is $150 with no reserve
* You have a $1 (or some low) starting bid but with a $150 reserve. When I e-mail asking what the reserve is, and you tell me $150.

But, if you have a low starting bid and I e-mail asking what the reserve is... you don't tell me, I've totally lost interest. Again, that's just me.

Reserves are stupid. I never buy anything on reserve. What's the point? If you want an X amount of dollar for a particular item then WHY NOT just start that item with a minimum bid of a couple bucks less then what you want for it?

Reserves bore people when no one knows what the reserve is. They low ball you and just walk away. No one wants to play the game of finding out what the reserve is. If they e-mail u then tell them. Why not? You want to sell the item don't u?

My .02 cents.
