I love the 80s. Best decade ever.

...
Awful. Just awful in every way. Music, clothes, attitudes towards life and on and on. The only thing good about the 80s was that they weren't quite as bad as the 70s. The 70s began the decline of civilization and the 80s beat it to within an inch of its life with a baseball bat in a dark alley. I'm thankful we've clawed our way out of the gutter since then. I am frankly amazed that after a decade like the 80s we didn't end up with a permanent society like the ones portrayed in Death Wish 3, Robocop (the original) and Escape from NY.

The 80s had some kick-ass movies (Aliens, anyone?) and great / original music that embraced new technology. It was also the dawn of the home PC.

The video game market crashed due to Atari shovelware and Nintendo's NES single-handedly revived it.

Like a few good movies make up for even one Max Headroom. I hated 80s music, so much... it-it- the f - it -flam - flames. Flames, on the side of my face, breathing-breathl- heaving breaths. Heaving breaths... Heathing...

Jealous much?

Having lived through both, you have no idea what an abyss the 70s were. OPEC oil lines...Carter...disco...ugh.

The 80s were America clawing out of the gutter from the morass of Vietnam.

And frankly, our society is a lot more like those movies today then it was back in the 80s. And there's a lot more big brother now....

Oh, and further more:

This.

I've always had the impression that urban life in the '70s would have been pretty awful -- unless you were rich and hanging out in disco clubs, doing lots of drugs.

Glad I grew up in the country, for that reason.

I said the 70s were worse, primarily because of disco. Clawing out of the gutter didn't start til about 88-89.

fucking awesome video!

the way the music escalated like The Bolero or a trey anastasio solo so good!

Seriously I wanted to say fuck yeah after hearing that music!

I learned on some of that linear tech. Hilarious. People were still using 20 year old controllers when I got out of TV with a patch to AVID for the high tech stuff.

I bet that was cut on a amiga or a Video toaster! I loved learning on linear. When NLEs came out our minds were blown.

if the vid was from 85 on it was probably a Mac Quadra with a board since a few of the effects in the clip werent possible on a linear setup.

Media composer for avid came out in 90 and that real time board was so slow and pixelated it wasnt even funny. The jump effects on the newscasters was pretty advanced for its day.

This. Though 70s music, sans disco, was pretty good.

Dank hates the 80s cuz a non democrat was in office.

Lol yeah, that's it. I was still an indoctrinated mini GOP supporter back then. Not old enough to vote.

Are you describing the 80's from a Soviet Union perspective because I don't remember the 80's being that bad here in the good old U.S. Of A. The USSR had some serious bread lines and some real shitty trabants.
