Senate reviewing 'competitive disadvantage' in BCS

I could see if there was absolutely nothing else going on in the world or in our country that might require some of their attention....but seriously, just like Baseball steroid use, why the hell is the senate spending one second on how the College football championship is determined.

Explain why this needs government intervention, given that comment

Sure, my answer is simple. They are doing their job.

why don't you explain why a senate Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy, and consumer rights issues is (in your opinion) not allowed to investigate the possibility of antitrust, competition, and/or consumer rights violations in BCS gaming?

The current system "leaves nearly half of all the teams in college football at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to qualifying for the millions of dollars paid out every year," the Senate Judiciary's subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy and consumer rights said in a statement Wednesday announcing the hearings.

Or here is a better question:

Explain how the Senate Judiciary sub-committee is supposed to step out of its jurisdiction and address all of those other things "going on in the world"

??

Not millions. Billions.

And it's not just the gambling aspect either. There are billions more here on the line for the TV networks and college athletic depts across the country. It must be nice to live in your little world where college football is just a game. In the real world, it's an industry.

BTW, Congress has power to investigate baseball because MLB is a government-protected monopoly. Literally, by Supreme Court decision, the national pastime. When some high-up MLB official argues to give up that unprecedented privilege in favor of not being strictly regulated, then maybe your arguments can be taken seriously.

It would appear that it has caught the attention of a senate judiciary subcommittee

whether you think its a "minor" problem or not.

You can bet BCS officials are interested in it too.

again, whether or not you think it is a "minor" problem.
