Great mindset...kill anyone who disagrees with us? And then we wonder why "they hate us so much". :disgust:

Disagreeing with us is one thing....celebrating our death is another.

Seems the same sentiment that many had towards Afghanistan and probably have/will with Iraq...celebration of the death of arab/muslim civilians! Oh, the hypocrisy...

No, not the death of arabs. But the removal of an organization that wished to do the US harm. The distiction is quite clear.

This is exactly what I said this morning when I wondered how long it would be before we got a remark like that from the Arab world. Of course, the mods in their "extreme wisdom" immediately deleted my thread.

Was anyone suprised to get a remark like this out of the arab world?

We hate them as much as they hate us. We would celebrate the destruction of them as they would celebrate the destruction of us.

So you are somehow miffed that our sworn enemy acts like a sworn enemy? What on Earth do you expect? Jerks do jerky things.

Hmm . . . I can't remember . . . where there people dancing in the streets of New York when we bombed Afghanistan?

Gosh, that's right, I'm mixed up. Those were Palestinians dancing in the streets after 9/11. Doh!

It's sufficient reason to know someone is smokin' some evil sh8, there, but it's not a reason to start shooting. I'm strongly in favor of seeing the evidence the administration keeps saying it has before we start shooting. The bad news is, I'm afraid they have the goods, and a shooting war may be justified. I hate when that happens. :(

Well, I don't have the time go back into old threads and look for quotes, but I specifically remember many calls to "turn Afghanistan into a lake," which is rejoicing at a bit more than "removing an organization that wished to do the US harm."

Furthermore, can you give me one example (other than Afghanistan, which so far looks okay but is yet to be seen) in American history when the United States has invaded a country and removed the political party from power, and then setup a completely democratic government that was in the best interest of the citizens?

I sure can't...I can think of countless examples of the United States doing the exact opposite, by establishing and/or supporting a regime that is clearly detrimental to the growth of a population but in the best economic interest of the west...Can we say Shah of Iran?

Even the Palestinians, who don't like us too much had the decency to send their condolences.

There were no such signs of jubilation over the shuttle disaster in any of the Palestinian territories. The official response from the Palestinians was one of condolence.

The Iraqis are celebrating the fact that people died. Do they want to tick us off?

Germany is a completely different situation, the third reich was actually taking over all of Europe and action by the west was clearly in need. Until we see Saddam marching through Paris, I think comparing him to Hitler is quite a stretch. Not to mention the fact that joining WW2 was NOT A SOLITARY EFFORT ... we had the whole world on our side, none of this cowboy gung-ho crap.

Are we that desperate to go to war that the soundbites from a government employee and a car mechanic are sufficient justification?
