You think having Trump and his cronies in charge of the Executive Branch is bad? It could be far worse if the Freedom Caucus had their way with Congress. Exhibit A--this week in North Carolina politics...
- Some backwoods pig fucker degenerates in the GOP proposed a ban on lawsuits against hog farms--even retroactively seeking to cap damages on existing lawsuits. Luckily, some sane Republicans realized that applying new laws to existing litigation would be a) unconstitutional, and b) a bad precedent for property rights.

For those unfamiliar to environmental concerns from hog and poultry farming: http://www.wral.com/advocacy-group-ranks-neuse-cape-fear-rivers-as-endangered/16638077/
- Four state GOP lawmakers introduced a new gay marriage ban--because they are still stuck in 2011? As to why the Supreme Court ruling wouldn't apply here: 'the bill says the Supreme Court's decision "exceeds the authority of the court relative to the decree of Almighty God that 'a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh’ (Genesis 2:24, ESV) and abrogates the clear meaning and understanding of marriage in all societies throughout prior history.”' http://www.indyweek.com/news/archiv...oduce-bill-to-make-gay-marriage-illegal-again
Right-o. This one died a quick death...
- ...but not before the bill's chief sponsor compared Abe Lincoln and the Supreme Court to Hitler!! Why is the GOP so bad with Hitler comparisons this week? I know they can't all be Jew (oops..I meant 'globalist') hating Holocaust deniers, right?

- And finally, even though the HB2 (bathroom bill) repeal deal was so bad for progressives that they turned on our newly-minted Democrat governor, the good ol' boys in the statehouse still want to take pot-shots at some of the parties who boycotted the state because of their stupidity: http://www.wral.com/nc-lawmakers-take-shots-at-ncaa-acc-/16640487/
For those unaware, once the GOP gained a veto-proof majority in the statehouse (thanks to gerrymandering) they've been chipping away at the UNC university system's autonomy thanks to one powerful donor's mission to make higher education in the state "less liberal". Apparently that includes nuking successful sports programs the next time they put a ban on hosting events, by forcing UNC to withdraw from that conference.
