how did it collide head-on w/ a truck?

That is what happens when a truck weiging multiple tons collides with a 500lb motorcycle.

How do you know if it was the motorcycle or the truck operator that wasn't paying attention assuming the original poster wasn't pulling a statement out of his @ss?

In a head on with a truck, the car occupant can wind up looking just like that too. Easier clean up though. Like tuna in a can.

Yeah, riding carries a greater risk than driving, and you have to be on guard at all times. If I ever suddenly stop posting, it probably means I bought it on my bike. Well if it happens, been nice knowing ya

Everything carries risks, and some more than others. One day we are going to wind up in a box. It matters more how you live than how you die.

Anyway, that WAS a mess.

I agree. I don't think anyone was trying to say that " OMG NO ONE SHOULD MOTORCYCLE!!!". Sometimes things like this happen, that is all. Enjoy your riding Winston, and be careful.

I also agree that isn't a thread bashing riders. I didn't take that way :D . I suppose I am just in a fatalistic mood this AM ;)

I would assume it was the motoryclists fault for the single reason that everything is in the truck's lane. Looks like they may have been passing a car(that Jetta, maybe?) around that curve and couldnt get over in time.

I ride a motorcycle too so I did not start this thread to bash bike riders.

PWNED.

J/k :) Somebody had to.

Anyway, dayum! One of the many reasons that, though I'd love to own a motorcycle, I never will. :(

This town's emergency services is obviously a bunch of amateurs. If we get an accident like that we would close off the road until it's cleaned up, or put up a blind (a sheet to block the view) for cars we let pass. In this scene they got traffic passing by the scene which could be a traumatic experience for some people to see that.
